Mercy Corps' ACEH program is looking for a qualified Indonesian citizen to manage our regional economic development strategy and professional team, This is a senior leadership position.

ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT MANAGER

This position will be based in Banda Aceh, but provide strategic support to all Mercy Corps' economic interests across Aceh Province. This is a management position responsible for building the capacity of team and partners in program implementation, staff development and new program development.

Program/Department Summary:
The overall goal of Mercy Corps' Economic Development Program (EDP) in Aceh is to stimulate a healthy Aceh economy that creates jobs, improves incomes, and equips entrepreneurs to address local needs. The program's current footprint is the Aceh-Medan trading corridor, with an interest in expanding to other areas of the Province. Operating in partnership with over 20 market actors, Mercy Corps' role is a facilitator to strengthen market linkages, build capacities of market actors and stimulate sustainable growth. Current initiatives focus on strengthening Aceh's rice industry to meet local food needs and compete with imported product; improving financial access for entrepreneurs; and improving market information through local media and SMS services.

This position requires:
?    Minimum five (5) years experience working in a related economic development field
?    Minimum two (2) years experience in a management position
?    Demonstrated ability to use market-driven approaches to accomplish socio-economic goals
?    Understanding of value chain design, market facilitation and microfinance
?    Capacity to build partnerships with business, government and NGOs
?    Capacity to manage a complex program and deliver results through
investing in staff development and performance management
?    Strong English verbal and written communication skilis.
?    Familiarity with regional business networks (especially Aceh-Medan) a very strong plus
